Vellum Overview
Welcome to Vellum, the central platform for managing, styling, and publishing your architectural schedules.
Revit is an incredible database, but its native scheduling tools were built for data extraction, not visual presentation. Vellum solves this by acting as a powerful, non-destructive layer on top of your Revit model. It allows you to transform raw data into beautiful, agency-grade documents without ever breaking the live link to your model.
The Vellum Interface
Section titled “The Vellum Interface”Vellum is divided into three primary workspaces, accessible at any time from the main application header. Try clicking through the tabs below to see how the interface contextually adapts to your active workspace:

Vellum Super Powers
Section titled “Vellum Super Powers”Vellum isn’t just a formatting tool; it’s a complete reimagining of how architectural data is handled. Here are the core capabilities that make Vellum unique:
1. Non-Destructive Tracing
Section titled “1. Non-Destructive Tracing”Never duplicate a schedule just to make it look good again. Vellum “traces” your existing Revit schedules. You apply styles, group columns, and merge cells in Vellum, while the actual dimensional and parametric data remains safely anchored in Revit.
2. Multi-Category “Blank Vellum”
Section titled “2. Multi-Category “Blank Vellum””Native Revit restricts you to single-category schedules. Vellum allows you to click Create Blank Vellum, select as many distinct Revit categories as you want, and instantly generate unified, cross-category matrices.
3. Master Template System
Section titled “3. Master Template System”Standardize your firm’s graphical standards with ease. Vellum allows you to save complete stylistic themes, data schemas, and logic rules as Master Templates, which can be applied to any new schedule with a single click.
4. Node-Based Advanced Logic
Section titled “4. Node-Based Advanced Logic”For complex parametric relationships, Vellum features a built-in, Dynamo-style Node Studio. Use visual scripting to map nested parameters, build complex conditional formatting rules, and automate cell population based on architectural logic.
5. Seamless Multi-Format Publishing
Section titled “5. Seamless Multi-Format Publishing”Vellum provides unmatched flexibility in how you share your work. Export your schedules to PDF, MS Excel, or CSV formats. Most importantly, you can push your styled schedules back into Revit as Drafting Views. While these views are placed as static graphical elements, Vellum actively tracks the underlying Revit schedule data and allows you to instantly update the Drafting View whenever the live model changes.
6. Collaborative BIM Environment
Section titled “6. Collaborative BIM Environment”Vellum is perfectly adapted to modern BIM workflows. It features intelligent element locking, real-time sync indicators, and multi-user awareness, ensuring that your formatting work never collides with your team’s live Revit model changes.
