Themes & Presets
The Themes & Presets tab manages the global, structural appearance of your schedule. While the Typography, Border, and Alignment tabs are designed for styling specific, selected cells, Themes apply holistic design packages (like header backgrounds, gridline weights, and typography defaults) to the entire table instantly.
In the interactive canvas below, test the global themes, the powerful Revit Scheme Sync, and use your mouse to select cells to apply localized Style Presets:

Vellum Themes
Section titled “Vellum Themes”The top section of the drawer manages your global themes. Clicking any of these will instantly override the entire schedule’s aesthetic parameters.
By default, Vellum includes several built-in styles ranging from clean architectural templates to high-contrast and minimalist drafting modes. You can easily expand this library by clicking the Create Theme (+) button next to the header to save your current table configuration as a new, reusable global theme.
- Clear All: Strips all custom formatting from the schedule, returning it to a plain white grid.
Revit Color Schemes (Sync)
Section titled “Revit Color Schemes (Sync)”One of Vellum’s most powerful presentation features is its ability to automatically map row colors to the native Color Fill Schemes applied to your Revit Floor Plans.
If your schedule contains a column referencing Rooms, Spaces, or Areas, click the Sync from View… button. This opens a modal querying your active Revit model for any view currently using a Color Scheme (such as a Department, Occupancy, or Finishes plan).
Selecting a view will instantly color-code your schedule rows to perfectly match the legend on your floor plan, completely eliminating the need to manually manage row fills!
Style Presets (Overrides)
Section titled “Style Presets (Overrides)”While Themes apply to the entire table, Presets are quick-access overrides you can apply to specific, selected areas.
- Cells: Contains presets for rapidly styling individual data points (e.g., stamping a cell as a “Critical Warning” with a red fill and bold text).
- Rows: Contains presets applied horizontally (e.g., styling a specific row as a bolded “Total Row”).
- Images: Contains presets specifically for the Image Formatting engine (e.g., quickly applying an “Elevated Shadow” to a selected rendering).
To create your own preset, format a cell exactly how you want it, ensure it is selected, and click the Create Preset (+) button at the top of the section.
