The Preview Window
The Publisher’s Preview Window is a live, high-fidelity representation of exactly how your schedules will look when exported. Whether you are generating a native Revit Drafting View, a PDF, or an Excel file, the preview engine dynamically updates to reflect your settings, ensuring there are no surprises when you hit “Export.”
Canvas Controls
Section titled “Canvas Controls”Floating on the right side of the preview canvas is your primary navigation toolbar. These tools allow you to inspect the fine details of your schedule styling or get a bird’s-eye view of your entire sheet set.
- Pan Tool (Hand Icon): Click and drag anywhere on the canvas to move around freely. This is especially useful when zoomed in on specific cell formatting.
- Fit to Screen: Instantly resets your zoom level and centers the canvas so all active sheets are fully visible within the viewport.
- Zoom In / Zoom Out: Precisely adjust your magnification to inspect line weights, text wrapping, and cell padding.
- Zoom Percentage: Displays your current magnification level.
Live Settings Interaction
Section titled “Live Settings Interaction”The true power of the Preview Window lies in its immediate feedback loop. As you adjust parameters in the Settings panel, the canvas redraws instantly. This is particularly crucial when dealing with spatial constraints like margins and page splits.
- Sheet Orientation: Toggling between Landscape and Portrait will immediately recalculate the bounding box of your target export format.
- View Scale: Changing the scale (e.g., from 1:100 to 1:50) will physically enlarge the schedule on the virtual sheet, demonstrating exactly how much more space the text and lines will consume.
- Splitting Logic: * When Auto-Split to fit margins is enabled, you will see the schedule automatically break before it crosses the bottom margin line.
- Toggling the Manual Split Behavior will instantly restructure the preview. “Same Sheet” will place the split column side-by-side on the current canvas, while “New Sheet” will generate an entirely new virtual sheet below the first one.
