View Fields
Creating highly graphical schedules in Revit (like a Door Schedule with proper elevations or a Furniture Schedule with 3D isometric views) usually requires creating dozens of separate drafting views, exporting them as images, and manually managing the “Type Image” parameter.
Vellum’s View Fields feature automates this entire pipeline. It allows you to select any live view within your Revit project, convert it into an optimized image on the fly, and drag it exactly where you need it on the schedule canvas.
1. Importing Views to the Palette
Section titled “1. Importing Views to the Palette”Before placing a view in the schedule, you must pull it from Revit into your local View Palette. Click the (+) Add button in the View Fields accordion to open the Import Modal.

The Resolution Setting
Section titled “The Resolution Setting”When importing, you have complete control over the extraction quality via the Resolution dropdown:
- 72 DPI (Draft): Best for extremely large schedules or complex 3D views to keep the Vellum interface running fast during the editing process.
- 150 DPI (Standard): The optimal balance of visual clarity and performance.
- 300 DPI (High Res): Best for final exports, ensuring your details and elevations print perfectly crisp on your construction documents.
2. Mapping Views to the Schedule Canvas
Section titled “2. Mapping Views to the Schedule Canvas”Once your views are imported into the palette, they behave identically to Image Fields.
You can drag them into a Blank Vellum Field for static headers, or drop them directly into row cells to create highly graphical schedules.
Try dragging a Door Elevation or the 3D Isometric View into the “Elevation” column of the mockup schedule below:
Common Use Cases
Section titled “Common Use Cases”- Door & Window Schedules: Drop front-facing Elevation views directly into the row corresponding to the specific Door Type.
- Furniture & Equipment: Embed 3D Isometric views to give contractors and clients a clear visual understanding of the scheduled items.
- Detail References: Drop specific 2D Drafting Views or standard details directly into the footer of a schedule to create a self-contained sheet.
