Typography & Fill
The Typography & Fill tab provides all the fundamental text and background styling tools you would expect from a modern spreadsheet application, tailored specifically for Revit schedule generation.
Select any combination of cells, rows, or columns in the interactive canvas below, and use the tools in the Style Drawer to test the formatting capabilities.

Font Settings
Section titled “Font Settings”Unlike Revit, which restricts you to locally installed operating system fonts, Vellum natively supports injecting Google Fonts directly into your schedules. In the demo above, try selecting the “Oswald” font from the dropdown to see a live web font applied to the data cells!
The toolbar also features a dense set of standard formatting toggles to help you quickly style your schedule:
- Bold / Italic / Underline: Standard text emphasis. Excellent for differentiating header rows from standard data rows.
- Subscript / Superscript: Perfect for proper architectural formatting, such as rendering Square Feet as $ft^2$.
- Rotate Text Up / Down: Rotates the text 90 degrees vertically in either direction. Highly useful for condensing schedules with many narrow, single-character columns (like an “X” in a hardware matrix).
- Word Wrap: Forces long text strings (like descriptions or comments) to wrap to the next line instead of spilling out of the column bounds.
- Text Color: Overrides the font color for the selected cells.
- Highlight Color: Applies a background color specifically behind the text characters, rather than filling the entire cell box.
Background Fill & Striping
Section titled “Background Fill & Striping”- Fill Color: Overrides the background color of the entire cell area for the current selection.
Global vs Local Striping
Section titled “Global vs Local Striping”While you can use the Fill Color tool to manually color alternating rows, Vellum includes an automatic Stripe Row feature. Activating this sets a global rule that automatically applies an alternating tint to every other row, ensuring your schedule remains perfectly readable even as data expands or contracts.
Importantly, global striping intelligently targets only the Data Fields (leaving your headers and footers pristine), and the alternating pattern automatically starts over for each group within your schedule.
