Align, Distribute & Size

The Align, Distribute & Size toolset gives you complete control over the spatial organization of your data. While Revit forces you into rigid auto-sizing constraints, Vellum allows you to manually dictate exact row and column dimensions.

Test the distribution and sizing tools in the interactive canvas below by selecting columns, rows, or individual cells:

The top section of the accordion handles standard text positioning within the cell boundaries.

  • format_align_left format_align_center format_align_right format_align_justify Horizontal Alignment: Left, Center, Right, and Justified.
  • vertical_align_top vertical_align_center vertical_align_bottom Vertical Alignment: Top, Middle, and Bottom.

These alignments apply dynamically based on the current height and width of the row/column they occupy.

This toolset resolves the most common frustration with Revit schedules: creating uniform, aesthetically pleasing column widths and row heights.

  • format_line_spacing Distribute Rows Evenly: Select multiple rows (by clicking and dragging on the row numbers 1, 2, 3…) and click this button. Vellum calculates the total height of the selected area and divides it equally among the rows.
  • format_line_spacing Distribute Columns Evenly: Operates identically to rows, but horizontally. Excellent for standardizing a matrix schedule (like a hardware or room finish schedule) where every data column needs to be the exact same width.
  • fit_width Fit Row Height to Content: Automatically collapses the selected row to the smallest possible dimension that safely contains the text or image inside it.
  • fit_width Fit Column Width to Content: Automatically collapses the selected column to fit the widest element inside it.
  • open_with Adjust Dimensions (Manual Override): Click to open the manual dimension sliders. Select any row or column and drag the slider to force a precise pixel width or height.
