Cell Fields
While Column Fields populate dynamic lists of elements row-by-row, Cell Fields are designed for static, single-value data.
Cell Fields are most commonly used to extract Project Information (like Project Name, Issue Date, or Client Name) and inject it directly into the customized headers or footers of your schedule, allowing you to build self-contained title blocks right inside Vellum.
1. Managing Cell Fields
Section titled “1. Managing Cell Fields”The Cell Fields accordion operates similarly to the Column Fields manager, but with a more streamlined interface since these fields do not require alphanumeric sorting or complex unit formatting.
You can add parameters via the (+) Add button, which opens the same searchable Native/Extended category picker used throughout Vellum.
2. Mapping to the Schedule Canvas
Section titled “2. Mapping to the Schedule Canvas”Adding a Cell Field to the accordion makes it available for use, but it won’t appear on your schedule until you physically map it to a specific cell.
This is done using Vellum’s intuitive drag-and-drop canvas.
Try dragging the fields on the left into the empty drop zones in the mock schedule below:
How it Works:
Section titled “How it Works:”- Ensure you have inserted a Blank Vellum Field (like a Header Row or a Blank Column) into your schedule to act as a container.
- Click and hold the drag handle (
⋮⋮) on any loaded Cell Field. - Drag the pill over your schedule canvas. Valid drop zones will highlight as you hover over them.
- Release your mouse to link the parameter. The cell will instantly populate with the live data from your Revit model.
